Getaway for the weekend - Nawalapitiya

I was looking forward to a holiday to rest my weary mind after a few weeks of hard work. So I decided to spend the weekend in Nawalapitiya, a town in Sri Lanka's Kandy District. At a height of 589 meters above sea level, it is 38 kilometers from Kandy and 112 miles from Colombo. It's on the Mahaweli Ganga's banks.

I should have drove 3 hours and 20 minutes to Sabaragamuwa Province in Sri Lanka through Western Province. And I made a reservation at a Nawalapitaya hotel near a tea farm, and I began my journey around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.

I arrived at my hotel around 2.10 p.m. after a lengthy journey through beautiful terrain and stopped for a bite to eat from roadside vendors. Despite the fact that the travel was a little exhausting due to the noon scenery arriving after Nawalapitiya, weariness swept everything away.

I arrived at the hotel, I had rented last Wednesday after driving through a tea farm. My wonderful room was handed to me. The view from my hotel room window was breathtaking. My view is considerably more amazing now that I have a huge garden and a modest home on the peak of the hill.

I quickly unloaded my belongings in my room, had a shower to relieve my exhaustion, changed, and walked out to visit the garden. And the small cottage clinging to the rock was so charming. The time was 5.00 p.m. I grabbed a tea with some little bites and walked to the little hut to relax while drinking my tea.

And this quiet atmosphere will really help me to re-energize my strength.

When I finished my sight-seeing, it was approximately 6 p.m., and night was just around the corner, so I headed to my hotel. I felt satiated after numerous nibbles and tea and was able to go to bed and sleep well without having dinner. And it was a pleasant evening.

It was 6 a.m. when I got out of bed. The sun was unusually brilliant in there at that moment. I changed my clothing and headed to the restaurant for brunch and morning tea. It was breathtaking to see the sun rising over those hills. With that lovely environment as a backdrop, I completed my breakfast and prepared to go for a walk.

After a short journey from the hotel, I was able to see Kadiyanlena Falls, a beautiful waterfall. It is situated on the district line that separates the Nuwara Eliya and Kandy districts. The Kadiyanlena Falls are 25 meters tall (82 ft) The first pool, which is roughly 100 feet deep and inaccessible, lies at the bottom. The other four pools are smaller and less than ten feet deep. Water is perfectly clear, cold, and refreshing; simply seeing it replenishes your body. It is not as crowded as many of the well-known waterfalls. Because it is not well-known among ordinary travelers The area is still quite clean and tranquil.

My next destination on my excursion was the Kotmale Dam, which was a little out of the way from my accommodation, but I decided to go since it would broaden my horizons.

There access was via driving through the dam, which provided a breathtaking view, and it was a wonderful experience.

The Kotmale Project, located in Kotmale, Sri Lanka, is a significant hydroelectric and irrigation dam. The dam is powered by three 67 MW turbines, with a total installed capacity of 201 MW, making it Sri Lanka's second biggest hydroelectric power facility. The dam's construction began in August 1979 and was officially finished in February 1985.

Thanks to Nawalapitiya, I was able to calm my thoughts that weekend after absorbing so much information and filled my camera with wonderful images.
