Sri Lanka is a lovely island in the Indian Ocean, separated from India by the Gulf of Mannar and the Palk Strait.
This island was called by a number of names by travelers. The mythological Prince Vijaya christened the island Tambapanni ("copper-red hands" or "copper-red earth," according to the Mahavamsa). Ancient Greek geographers gave it the name Taproban, which was derived from the phrase Tambapanni. Sarandid was the Arab name for it.

Sri Lanka is a multicultural country with many different cultures, languages, and ethnic groups. The Sinhalese make up the bulk of the population of Sri Lanka.

The population is predicted to expand by 22,156,000 by 2020, with a density of 337.7 per square kilometer on this little island with a total size of 65,610 km2 (25,330 sq mi) (120th) (874.6 per square mile)
In 2012, 70.2 percent of the population practiced Buddhism (officially), 12.6 percent of Hinduism, 9.7 percent of Islam, 7.4 percent of Christianity, and 0.1 percent of other/none religions.


Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte serves as the country's legislative capital, while Colombo serves as the country's main metropolis and financial center. and their currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR).

Because of the cooling effects of the ocean winds, the climate is tropical and warm. The average annual temperature ranges from 28 to almost 31 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures might range from 14 to 18 degrees Celsius during the day and night.
Mean temperatures range from 17 degrees Celsius in the central highlands, where frost may occur for many days during the winter, to 33 degrees Celsius in low-altitude locations. Sri Lanka boasts a diversified avifauna with


453 species, including 240 bird species. And they have the most biodiversity per unit area of any Asian country for flowering plants and all vertebrate species except birds.
